Lewis James Professional is a woman-owned staff augmentation, project consulting and direct hire search and placement firm. We are currently seeking an Audit Manager, Mortgage Operations for a direct hire opportunity with a financial services client.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the execution of high-risk and complex audit engagements by defining scope, planning, and developing test strategies, incorporating data analytics to enhance audit effectiveness.
- Allocate resources efficiently, aligning team members’ skills and schedules to ensure assignments are completed on time and within budget.
- Establish and uphold quality expectations based on corporate audit standards, assessing process documentation for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepare well-structured, insightful audit reports that align with the organization’s risk appetite framework and effectively communicate findings to key stakeholders.
- Identify and assess significant risks and substantive issues beyond procedural gaps, thinking outside the “norm” to offer practical solutions in addition to uncovering problems.
- Mentor and develop junior team members by actively providing coaching, training, and professional guidance.
- Leverage deep industry expertise to provide meaningful challenge and insight, strengthening partnerships with business leaders.
- Oversee the timely and high-quality completion of audits, projects, and special assignments while offering advisory support on new systems, process enhancements, and policy changes.
- Operate independently, applying sound judgment in conducting complex risk-based assessments and decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Requires 6-8 years of experience in banking, auditing, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of audit principles, financial services, and banking operations, with strong knowledge of risk management and process optimization.
- Proven ability to analyze complex information, identify root causes of issues, and develop effective solutions.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and negotiation skills with the ability to clearly convey complex concepts. Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant audit tools, with strong project management and advisory capabilities to drive successful audit execution.
