BI Data Governance Analyst Sr

Lewis James Professional is a woman-owned staff augmentation, project consulting and direct hire search and placement firm. We are currently seeking a BI Data Governance Analyst Sr for a contract opportunity with a financial services client.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in data governance, information quality and data security activities ensuring effective management of data as a corporate asset that can be used as the basis for decisions.
  • Work to increase executive awareness of data, information governance and quality.
  • Assist in providing requirements for implementation of Master Data Management and Data Quality Services to establish data definitions and standardization.
  • Assist in the identification of data stewards within various lines of business to facilitate communication and expand the use of data for business decisions.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a data governance model for a variety of data.
  • Meet with technology and business partners to identify areas where data governance is necessary.
  • Work cross functionally with varying data owners across the organization to support the implementation of processes and procedures to ensure that governance, stewardship, transparency and control of data assets is maintained at all times.
  • Support cataloging and mapping primary data assets and their varied usages across the organization, as well as establishing and enforcing guidelines for sharing customer data outside of the organization.
  • Participate in and supports business intelligence data governance communication efforts.
  • Participate in and supports the selection and testing of appropriate toolsets for data governance processes.
  • Assist with building an enterprise data asset map and data dictionary.
  • Assist with establishing gating, data utilization policies, and external agency guidelines.
  • Perform business intelligence analysis and data exploitation.
  • Extract signals and signatures from raw data, integrate information with other data sources and compiles/disseminates formatted reports to customers.
  • Recommend improvements to competitive business intelligence reports and interpretation of data by business lines and executive committees.
  • Participate in data requirements gathering sessions.
  • Participate in system testing and the analysis and reconciliation of data and reporting projects and initiatives delivery.
  • Develop, maintain, and report all relevant product, site and customer metrics.
  • Create documentation on data requests as they are fulfilled to include validation, testing and user acceptance.
  • Identify, address, resolve, and prevent data quality issues across the organization through root cause analysis and remediation activities.
  • Provide requirements for validation reports designed to detect potential data and data processing errors.
  • Organize and communicate data quality results to key stakeholders.
  • Assist in the identification of opportunities for Master Data Management to standardize data definitions.
  • Implement accurate and complete metadata.
  • Identify and exploit opportunities for enhanced Business Intelligence that align with the company's business architecture and strategy.
  • Collect, analyze, and validate data prior to it being stored for final use.
  • Ensure data integrity by implementing quality assurance practices, gather and enter missing data, and resolve any anomalies.
  • Identify areas of improvement in data collection processes or systems and make recommendations to correct any deficiencies.
  • Work as part of or in conjunction with the database/data warehouse team on extract, transform, and load (ETL) process projects.
  • Train others throughout the organization in using key analytical and forecasting tools and statistical analysis.
  • Provide technical mentoring and project leadership to junior analysts.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Knowledge of source systems and potential transformations as data is incorporated into the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Knowledge of BI applications and application environments using multiple data sources.
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and good project management skills.
  • Knowledge of BI applications and application environments using multiple data sources.
  • Quantitative, analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications.
