Manager of Accounting Operations

Lewis James Professional is a woman-owned staff augmentation, project consulting and direct hire search and placement firm. We are currently seeking a Manager of Accounting Operations for a direct hire opportunity with a financial services client.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounting operations, accounting systems support and operational activities, including systems conversions, related to mergers and acquisitions for the accounting department.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the Bank’s accounting systems including scheduled imports, software upgrades, implementation of new software, and the management of user access rights. This includes developing and organizing testing of applications and coordination with the information technology department.
  • Develop and maintain completeness and accuracy controls when extracting and importing general ledger data from source systems to load into accounting systems.
  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance of general ledger mapping of loan and deposit products to facilitate proper recording of transactions.
  • Develop and maintain procedures for granting access to the accounting systems software and facilitates reviews of access to the system to ensure proper user access rights are assigned.
  • Assist in branch consolidations including branch cash proof, core system maintenance and general ledger maintenance.
  • Serve as the department’s primary point of contact to the Strategic Initiative Office.
  • Oversee the acquired bank’s general ledger daily import into the Bank’s general ledger and the daily reconciliation of the acquired bank’s balance sheet and income statement. In addition, creates and manages testing for any operational or system conversions.
  • Assist KPMG external auditors in data collection, review, and analysis of quarterly and year end process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience. CPA/MBA, preferred.
  • Experience or certification in Project Management skills preferred.
  • 5+ years increasingly responsible experience in the design and implementation of accounting systems in conjunction with comparable experience in financial analysis and reporting, preferably in a banking environment.
  • Relevant experience in bank and accounting operations to facilitate conversion activity related to acquisitions and core systems.
  • Experience in Fiserv Prologue and Premier and SAP BlackLine a plus.
  • Experience working with senior level management.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, and financial institution policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of automated financial software packages (general ledger) and standard office equipment.
  • Superior knowledge of accounting systems in financial services and system administration.
