Strategic Finance Manager

Lewis James Professional is a woman-owned staff augmentation, project consulting and direct hire search and placement firm. We are currently seeking a Strategic Finance Manager direct hire opportunity with a financial services client.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Strategic Finance Partner to Consumer and Commercial business leaders, providing insights that influence strategy, operations, and long-term performance.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly and quarterly reporting, dashboards, and variance analysis highlighting revenue, expenses, profitability, and balance sheet performance.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews and performance discussions, presenting KPIs, trends, and actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting, establishing assumptions, setting targets, and aligning financial plans with organizational goals.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis, including cost-benefit evaluations, expense deep dives, and budgeting for new initiatives.
  • Collaborate with finance and business teams to define meaningful KPIs and integrate data into business intelligence tools for enhanced reporting.
  • Monitor internal performance and benchmark against external industry data (e.g., H8 weekly reports) to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a small team of analysts to deliver high-quality analysis and insights.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on strategic initiatives to enhance product performance, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Translate financial insights into clear business recommendations, helping leaders make informed, data-driven decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 8+ years of financial analysis experience, preferably within consumer or commercial banking, wealth management, auto lending, or middle-market lending.
  • Strong understanding of banking products, retail balance sheets, and business line performance drivers.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Hyperion Essbase, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or Alteryx preferred.
  • Effective presentation and communication skills, with experience engaging senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, balancing recurring reporting with ad hoc requests.
  • Leadership experience with proven ability to mentor and develop junior analysts.
