Credit Risk Modeling Manager
Lewis James Professional is a woman-owned staff augmentation, project consulting and direct hire search and placement firm. We are currently seeking a Credit Risk Modeling Manager for a direct hire opportunity with a financial services client.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team in developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining credit risk models for the Consumer portfolio, with an emphasis on real estate-based loans.
  • Oversee model development for CECL, stress testing, loss forecasting, origination, and portfolio management.
  • Source, clean, and transform data; research methodologies; train and test models; and ensure comprehensive documentation.
  • Implement models in production systems and monitor ongoing performance, calibration, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate technical concepts and model results to non-technical stakeholders across Credit, Risk, Treasury, Finance, Technology, Audit, and other business lines.
  • Collaborate with other Credit Model Managers, cross-train staff, and support project needs.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members, conduct performance reviews, and manage direct reports.
  • Support model validation, audits, regulatory reviews, and interact with stakeholders on model issues and remediation actions.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (Bachelor’s with additional certifications or experience considered).
  • 8+ years of experience in model development or validation, ideally focused on credit risk or stress testing.
  • Advanced skills in quantitative statistical modeling (e.g., regression, time-series, Markov Chain).
  • Proficient in Python and SQL; knowledge of R, SAS, and Git is preferred. Experience with cloud MLOps and Databricks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with GAAP, Basel III, Dodd-Frank, CCAR, and bank regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills, with experience conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences, including executives.
  • Supervisory experience, including leading, mentoring, and developing team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiar with version control systems.
